Study on the Hydrodesulfurization Catalyst of Residual Fuel (Part 2)

Abstract

The following conclusions were obtained. (1) Compared with a commercial catalyst, the catalysts manufactured in this study on trial generally showed only a small in the drop in the catalytic activity and showed a superior selectivity in the hydrodesulfurization reaction at rather high reaction temperatures. (2) From the experimental results of the 2,000 hour catalytic activity tests, the authors estimated the catalytic life of the catalysts manufactured on trial to be 17 to 26 bbl/lb and that of the commercial catalyst to be 16 bbl/lb. (3) The catalysts which had large mean pore diameters showed a comparatively slow drop in the desulfurization activity. Their activity for vanadium and asphaltene removal was high.
