STUDY ON SIGN PLANNING AT A TERMINAL STATION USING “CAPTION EVALUATION METHOD”

Abstract

Through field experiments with station users, we are conducting research aimed to establish a development approach to create better station spaces. For the creation of a better station space, it is important to evaluate the station space not only from designers' eyes but also from user's eyes. The purpose of this study is to accumulate knowledge that contributes to the provision of easily understood information in the multipurpose, highly complex terminal stations. As the beginning, we carried out impression evaluation experiments using the "caption evaluation method" in a Tokyo metropolitan area terminal station ("Station T").
