cophase EGC diversity over the other antenna configurations. In addition, comparison between two optimal solutions, the solution from Rician fading provides a slightly better performance than the solution from AWGN. It implies the real propagation behaves closely to Rician rather than AWGN. From all results, the improvement is accomplished if the right antenna configuration is properly designed. Therefore, the proposed method is of important in practice.
CONCLUSIONThis article presents both simulation and measurement results of non-cophase EGC diversity technique with four antennas on limited dimension of WLAN terminal-like notebook. Both AWGN and Rician fading channels are considered. This article uses GA method to find the optimal antenna configuration to achieve the best signal quality. By comparing the performances of many antenna configurations, the configuration from optimization method provides the best performance.
