Study of Vitamin-B1 Interaction with Dihydroxyanthraquinone Dye and its Thermodynamic Elucidation

Abstract: Interaction of Alizarin RedS dye with thiamin (vitaminB1) was studied using spectrophotometric method at room temperature and neutral pH. The yellowish color appeared due to the Alizarin RedS interaction with vitamin B1. According to the Benesi-Hildebrand equation, the related equilibrium constant, Kb, for the interaction has been determined and the Gibbs free energy of interaction has been calculated. Also the Benesi-Hildebrand equation has been used for assay of vitamin B1 in tablets. Results show that the m… Show more

“…Generally, the calculated result of the thermodynamic parameters such as ∆G, ∆H and ∆S demonstrated that the amoxicillin absorption was endothermic and spontaneous in nature (Kakavandi et al, 2014). The value for the Gibbs free energy of the thiamine is a good agreement with that previously reported (Khorsandi et al, 2013) for the interaction between thiamine and dihydroxyan thraguinone dye, which is given by (Habeeb, 2011). The calculated values of change in enthalpy and entropy indicate that the hydrophobic interaction play the major role in the interaction between the molecules.…”

“…When a chemical reaction is involved, the second condition implies that a single parameter is sufficient to specify uniquely the composition of the system at any time. [27] Spectrophotometric study, of the interaction between tetraethyl ammonium halides and Aza-15-crown-5 with I2 and ICl in Acetonitrile [28]; Alizarin Red-S dye with thiamin at room temperature and neutral pH [29], the results show that the stoichiometry 1:1 through using molar ratio method this supported by present of isosbestic point. In other studies; isosbestic point at 600 nm in the interaction [30] between bromocresol purple (BCP) and bovine serum albumin (BSA)/porcine serum albumin (PSA) investigated in both the absence and presence of bilirubin (BR) ; which suggested the presence of two species (free and bound BCP) in the incubation mixture.…”
