Study of the Optical, Electrical, Structural and Morphological Properties of Electrodeposited Lead Manganese Sulphide (PbMnS) Thin Film Semiconductors for Possible Device Applications

Abstract: Semiconductor thin films of lead manganese sulphide (PbMnS) have been successfully deposited on florinated tin oxide (FTO) conductive glass substrate using an electrodeposition method. Lead acetate (Pb(CH3COO)2), manganese sulphate (MnSO4.H2O) and thiourea (CH4N2S) were the precursor used for cadmium (Cd2+), manganese (Mn2+) and sulphur (S2-) sources respectively. The concentration of manganese (Mn2+) was varied while keeping the concentrations of Pb2+ and S2- constant at 0.2 M and 0.1 M respectively. The depo… Show more

“…The analysis of the refractive index near the visible and infrared regions shows that the peak refractive index for the 20 cycles is lower than that of the 40 cycles, while the 30 cycles have the least refractive index. Investigation of the optical properties of CdMnS using electrodeposition method shows that optical conductivity, refractive index, absorption co-efficient, and absorbance are affected by deposition voltage (Nwori et al, 2022). Figure 2D is the plot of the absorption coefficient square against the photon energy for the 20, 30 and 40 cycles.…”
