Study of solid polymer electrolyte based on biodegradable polymer polycaprolactone

Abstract: In this research the polymer electrolyte materials based on poly caprolactone (PCL) has been synthesized and characterized. Polycaprolactone is a non-toxic and biodegradable polymer that is environmentally friendly. The preparation of the polymer electrolyte film is carried out by a casting method whereby the PCL polymer is dissolved in a tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent. Lithium perchlorate salt (LiClO4) as a source of lithium ions then was added to solution with a composition (5-40)% by weight. The solution was… Show more

“…The possible structural changes in host‐polymer PCL on adding the liquid electrolyte (ie, 1 M NaTf in EC:PC mixture) have been monitored via comparative XRD patterns of pure PCL and the GPE film, as shown in Figure 2A. The pure PCL shows XRD characteristic peaks at 2θ positions of 21.4°, 22° and 23.8°, related to the (110), (111), and (200) planes, respectively 14,37 . Besides, the broad halo centered around 21°, attributed to the predominant amorphous nature of the polymer, suggesting the presence of both crystalline and amorphous phases 37 .…”

“…Here, an environmentally friendly material, PCL, was utilized to fabricate the detection card matrix, owing to its proper biodegradable and hydrophobic properties [ 16 ]. To successfully obtain the electrospun fiber mat, the appropriate solvent for PCL electrospinning should be initially investigated.…”

“…Meanwhile, the contribution of LiClO4 in all SPE-C is assigned at 1054 cm -1 with spectroscopically free ClO4ions. The stretching at 898 cm -1 is the presence of β1-4 glycoside bonds between glucose units (Abarna & Hirankumar, 2014;Capanema et al 2018;Sim et al 2010;Sunandar et al 2019).…”
