Study of plasma parameters in a pulsed plasma accelerator using triple Langmuir probe

Abstract: A Triple Langmuir Probe (TLP) has been used to study plasma parameters of a transient plasma produced in a newly developed Pulsed Plasma Accelerator system. In this experiment, a TLP with a capacitor based current mode biasing circuit was used that instantaneously gives voltage traces in an oscilloscope which are directly proportional to the plasma electron temperature and density. The electron temperature (Te) and plasma density (ne) of the plasma are measured with the help of this probe and found to be 24.13… Show more

“…The authors show the CGM harbors a significant fraction of the baryons (Werk et al 2014). The COS-GASS program explores the connection between the interstellar medium (ISM) and the CGM by combining with HI 21 cm line observations (Borthakur et al 2015). While these studies focus on the inner regime of the CGM of some specific types of galaxies, Liang & Chen (2014), in contrast, used 195 galaxy-QSO pairs to probe CGM with a broad range of stellar mass of the galaxies (10 7 − 10 12 M ) and out to large distances (500 kpc).…”

“…The PPS is operated at different voltages to obtain different plasma conditions such as plasma stream energy density, plasma stream velocity, electron temperature and plasma density. Detailed description of the plasma parameters in this device is reported elsewhere [17]. In Table 1, a summary of the typical plasma parameters of the system is highlighted.…”

“…Triple Langmuir probe. The TLP used here, derived from Chen and Sekiguchi's design [27], consists of three cylindrical tungsten wires (P1, P2, P3) with a diameter of 4 mm and a length of 57 mm. The distance between each two of the three tips is 8 mm.…”
