“…In literature several such studies have been carried out recently on the effects of irradiation on polymers by different authors [13][14][15][16][17][18]. A comparison of the data on optical studies of the present detector with those reported on other detectors such as CR-39 have shown that the gamma irradiation of these detectors also leads to shift in optical absorption edges, which indicates a lowering of the energy band gap [13,17,18]. The decrease in energy band gap implies an increase in conductivity [18,19] of the irradiated polymers.…”
