Study ofR3νrelationship from 400-GeVp

Abstract: New data from 400-GeV p-nucleus interactions are analyzed to investigate the variation of normalized created-charged-particle multiplicity (R3) as a function of effective number of projectile encounters ( (v')) calculated by using the additive quark model. The data, combined with other available data from pnucleus and ?T--nucleus reactions, confirm the projectile independence of the R3-( v ' ) relationship, first observed by Kumar et al.

“…In emulsion experiments, only the charged particles are recorded therefore it is not possible to determine the total number of particles produced either in hA or in hh interactions. We, therefore, summarise here the methods proposed by various workers [14][15][16][17] to estimate the value of R A which may be compared with the predictions of various models.…”

“…Some workers [14][15][16][17] have taken R A as ratio of charged particles created in hA and hh collisions. Thus they have taken the number of charged particles created in hh collisions as <N ch > cr =<N ch >-2.…”
