Study of Energy Scattering Relation and RCS Reduction Characteristic of Matrix-Type Coding Metasurface

Abstract: In this paper, we present a design of the linear polarization conversion metasurface (MS) for the broadband radar cross section (RCS) reduction based on split-ring resonator (SRR) structure in microwave region. The corresponding phase gradient can be obtained through the stable phase difference of basic units of polarization conversion MS. The designed polarization conversion MS is applied in coded electromagnetic (EM) matrix by defining two basic units “0” and “1”, respectively. Based on the principle of plan… Show more

“…Another diffused coding metasurface with a spiral track arrangement, reported in [87], has offered improvement in bandwidth up to 69%. A matrixtype coding metasurface further enhanced the bandwidth to 87% in [88]. In [89], a one-bit coding diffusion metasurface is reported to provide wider bandwidth compared to a CMS.…”

“…The out‐of‐band RCS is reduced using absorbing materials as a ground plane. [ 30–45 ] By studying different works in the literature for the strategy of the low‐backscattering antenna described earlier, we suggested a novel antenna array model that realized a drastic decrease of the RCS. The antenna array's out‐of‐band RCS property is also achieved by replacing the metallic ground with a metasurface based on an AMC.…”
