Study and Stability Analysis of Leading Phase Operation of a Large Synchronous Generator

Abstract: This paper proposes a two-dimensional finite element mathematical model taking the mf-15 simulation generator in the dynamic model laboratory as the research object. The electromagnetic performance of the motor under no-load and rated load was analyzed to verify the correctness of the model. By using the method of field-circuit coupling combined with simulation analysis, the limit value of the generator's phase-in depth is determined, and the variation law of the electric and magnetic field distribution with t… Show more

“…Lagging and leading phase operation are two normal operating modes under high and low field currents [31, 32]. For a generator, the ability to lead phase operation is significant in the safe and economic operation of the grid [16]. As a result, the focus of Section 3 is to introduce the theory of leading phase operation and verify it via mathematical model and numerical simulation.…”

“…When the field current decreases, the power factor changes from positive to negative and the reactive power changes from inductive to capacitive [16]. The phasor diagram is applied to illustrate the theory of lagging phase and leading phase operation which is shown in Fig.…”
