Uranium is an indispensible material for the generation of electricity by nuclear reactors. The depletion of primary uranium ore bodies has rekindled interest in recovering uranium from other sources to bridge the gap between supply and demand. Rock phosphate is an important secondary source of uranium that offers dual advantages not only to provide uranium for energy production, but also prevents the soils and crops from radioactive contamination. The present review is the compilation of literature reports on the processes for recovery of uranium from phosphoric acid origin by different techniques with an emphasis on solvent extraction technology. The pre-and post-treatment of phosphoric acid were also highlighted together with a history of different extractant systems employed for uranium recovery. Recent developments in evaluating the new extractant molecules for effective separation of uranium from phosphoric acid solution have also been elaborated. With an eye on the different extractants or solvent systems that were studied earlier for uranium extraction from phosphoric acid, factors affecting the extractant moiety are also reviewed to provide insight upon emerging novel extractants to be explored in the future endeavor of solvent designers or synthesizers.

Titanium oxide nanotubes (TiO x NTs) were prepared using a hydrothermal method followed by ion exchange and phase transformation. The obtained TiO x NTs were decorated with CuFe 2 O 4 quantum dots by assisted microwave procedures. The prepared nanomaterials were characterized by XRD, TEM, and IR spectroscopy. The decorated nanotubes (DTiO x NTs) were used as adsorbents for the removal of U(VI) from aqueous solutions prior to its determination by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry. Experimental parameters including pH, contact time and amount of adsorbent were investigated by batch mode. Optimum sorption of U(VI) ions obtained at pH 6-8. The maximum adsorption capacity of DTiO x NTs towards U(VI) was found to be 366 mg g À1 which is better than that obtained by using TiO x NTs (277 mg g À1 ). The equilibrium adsorption isotherm of U(VI) was fitted with the Langmuir adsorption model. Moreover, a mini-column packed with DTiO x NTs was used for columnmode extraction and preconcentration of U(VI). The effects of layer thickness, sample volume, sample flow rate and eluent conditions were studied. Under the optimized column procedures, the preconcentration factor for U(VI) was 200. The 3s detection limit and 10s quantification limit were found to be 0.12 and 0.40 ng mL À1 , respectively. The calibration curve was linear up to 1500 ng mL À1 . The proposed method showed good performance in analyzing water samples of different sources and soil sample digests collected from agriculture land near an industrial area.

Increasing uranium exhaustion of the classical uranium ores in the last century as well as the urgent need for discovering clean nuclear energy would recently reorient research attention toward the nonconventional resources. The latter include mainly phosphate ore. This work is design to produce of citric acid by Aspergillus niger via optimization of the nutritional parameters. The medium used was supplemented with different concentrations of sucrose. It was found that sucrose (60 g/l) at pH of 3 to yield about 44.16(%) citric acid. The work is then successive to recover uranium from El-Sebaiya phosphate rock through its bioleaching which adopts on the citric acid produced from the A. niger metabolism extractant. The impure precipitate of bioleach liquor was purified via Amberlite I.R.A-400 anion exchanger resin and a marketable product of ammonium diuranate was prepared
