Studies on poly-3-hydroxyoctanoate biosynthesis by a consortium of microorganisms

Abstract: Abstract. Polyhydroxyalcanoates (PHAs) are specifically produced by a wide variety of bacteria, as an intracellular energy reserve in the form of homo-and copolymers of [R]-β-hydroxyalkanoic acids, depending on the C source used for microorganism growth, when the cells are grown under stressing conditions. In this paper we present microbiological accumulation of poly-3-hydroxyoctanoate (PHO) by using a consortium of bacterial strains, Pseudomonas putida and Bacillus subtilis, in a rate of 3:1, grown on a ferme… Show more

“…For the accumulation of poly-3-hydroxyoctanoate (PHO) [68], batch fermentation production was studied using a consortium of bacterial strains Pseudomonas putida and Bacillus subtilis/Bacillus subtilis BSV in a ratio of 3:1, compared to PHO biosynthesis with P. putida (Table 3, Figure 4). For the accumulation of poly-3-hydroxyoctanoate (PHO) [68], ba production was studied using a consortium of bacterial strains Pseudo Bacillus subtilis/Bacillus subtilis BSV in a ratio of 3:1, compared to PHO P. putida (Table 3, Figure 4). The results revealed the consortium performance regarding the pro ymers (%): 85.83-86.8 C8, 5.38-5.55 C6, and 5.65-6.45 C10 were obtained…”
