Studies on heterosis and combining ability in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Abstract: Hybrid vigour and combining ability of two lines, 25 testers and their 50 hybrids was studied for grain yield, yield components and quality parameters during Rabi 2017-18. A perusal of the results revealed that the expression of heterosis was maximum over mid-parent for grain yield plant-1 and number of grains panicle-1 (>90%). Grain yield plant-1 and number of grains panicle-1 had also recorded high levels of heterosis over better parent (>70%). Standard heterosis more than 50 per cent was also recorded for g… Show more

“…Highly significant positive estimates of standard heterosis were observed in the crosses Norti X Nekken 1 (24.09) and Norti X Giza 178 (17.97). These results agreed with the data reported by Yuga et al, (2018), Prasad et al, (2019), Singh et al, (2019), Alok and Sujeet (2020), Kumar et al, (2020 b) and Yadav et al, (2020). The relationship between per se performance and genetic components :…”

“…Number of spikelets per panicle is one of the main important yield components that improve grain yield. The previous data agreed with the data reported by Kostylev et al, (2017), Prasad et al, (2019), Singh et al, (2019 and Yadav et al, (2020).…”
