Studies on Eaton PPLO Pneumonia

Abstract: Tuberculosis-Fox MBRALJTOURNAL is no residual cavitation at one year and combined chemotherapy if there is ; and (c) chemoprophylaxis of high-risk groups.During treatment bacteriological examinations are more informative than radiography, and progress can adequately be assessed by smear examinations, which are very cheap. Initially, cultures should be reserved for diagnostic purposes and sensitivity tests for the measurement of the prevalence of drug resistance in the community.A consideration of the resul… Show more

“…Cold agglutinin titres are raised in 33-76% of M. pneumoniae pneumonias (Chanock, 1965) and the antibody usually shows anti-I specificity (Barret-Connor, 1972). Cold agglutinins may occasionally be raised in other pneumonias (Jansson et al, 1964). The rise in cold agglutinin titre precedes the rise in CF antibody (Couch, 1973).…”

“…Less than a third of the specimens were inoculated into suckling mice or examined for /3-haemolytic streptococci. The Eaton agent of primary atypical pneumonia, which has been shown to be the cause of about 16% of lower respiratory infections (Jansson et al, 1964), was not looked for.…”

“…pneumoniae appears to be an important cause of pneumonia in the civilian population. Pneumonia caused by M. pneumoniae occurs most fre quently during late childhood and during the second and third decades; how-ever, the organism can cause pneumonia in persons of almost any age (47,(51)(52)(53)(54)(55). In a recent study in the Seattle, Washington area, 20 per cent of 215 patients of all ages with a diagnosis of nonbacterial pneumonia were in fected with M. pneumoniae (47).…”

“…In a recent study in the Seattle, Washington area, 20 per cent of 215 patients of all ages with a diagnosis of nonbacterial pneumonia were in fected with M. pneumoniae (47). Studies in Great Britain, Finland, and Sweden have implicated this organism as the cause of between 10 per cent to 33 per cent of all pneumonic illnesses (53,54,55).…”
