Introduction: The importance of educational environment in any medical institute cannot be ignored. Medical students should be provided a healthy environment so as to maximize their learning. Also understanding their perception about the educational environment can be used tactfully to evaluate and address the deficiencies and to make necessary changes required accordingly. Aims & Objectives: To assess students’ perception regarding educational environment in a medical college of Lahore. Place and duration of study: This cross-sectional study was conducted from September 2019- December 2019 in CMH Lahore Medical College. Material & Methods: 450 students of M.B.B.S from first year to final year (90 students / year) were included by simple random method after taking written informed consent. DREEM questionnaire was used having 5 subscales including students’ perception of learning (PoL), perception of Teachers (PoT), students’ academic self-perception (ASP), students’ perception of atmosphere (PoA) and students ‘self-perceptions (SSP). Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 22 .Data was presented as mean ±s.d, normality assessed with Shapiro -Wilk’s test followed by Spearman’s correlation analysis. Results: Reliability of the scale was found to be 96%, indicative of excellent consistency of the responses provided by students. Mean scores of subscales from both male and female students; PoL, PoT, ASP, PoA and SSP were found as 29.89±7.36, 28.07±7.21, 19.50±5.17, 28.78±7.36 & 16.97±4.55 respectively. Total DREEM score came out to be 123.21+29.48. Conclusion: It is concluded that students perceived a positive learning environment in this medical college’s experience.

Background: Learning environment is a broad concept that expresses the physical environments, contexts, and cultures where learning takes place. This study is aimed to evaluate the preclinical learning environment of a medical faculty using the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure. Method: The study was designed as a descriptive cross-sectional study. The population of the study was determined as medical school students enrolled at Suleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Medicine, 1st year, 2nd year, and 3rd-year students during the 2019-2020 academic year (N: 884). Item analyzes, reliability tests, and validation tests were performed to evaluate the correlation of the scale with the population of the study. In line with this information, it was decided that the population was suitable for the scale and that generalization could be made through this data. Results: In the study, the data of 326 participants were evaluated. In the collective evaluation of all years overall DREEM-TR score as 138.07 ± 22.75 regarding all students. In comparison between years, it was seen that there was a statistically significant difference between 1st year and 2nd and 3rd years (p<.005). Discussion: The use of valid/reliable measurement tools in the evaluation of the program is necessary for the monitorization of the program. These valuable findings are suggested to be used by the faculty management for the development and monitorization of the program. We believe that the continuity of this evaluation within the scope of program evaluation would contribute to the monitoring and development of the training program.

Background: Educational environment have a significant impact on promoting and enhancing lifelong learning and continuing academic development. Aim: the aim of this study is to evaluate the educational environment and it's relation to nursing student academic achievement among fourth year students at Faculty of Nursing. Design: Descriptive correlational research design was used to achieve the aim of the current study. Setting: Faculty of Nursing, Minia University. Subjects: fourth year nursing students who enrolled for the academic year 2018-2019 (n=360). Tools: one tool was used to collect data pertinent to the study. It was included three parts; personal data, academic achievement of student's final score of 1 st semester, and the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM). Results: The findings in the present study revealed that the overall score of DREEM was 85.8% with mean global score (127.5/200), which indicated that the students have more positive than negative perceptions of their educational environment. Conclusion: The current study explained that students' perception of their educational environment is more positive than negative. It was clear that educational environment does not have an enormous impact on academic achievement of students as commonly perceived. Recommendations: Emphasis on developing students' skill rather than just transfer of factual knowledge, using active learning techniques like small group discussion.
