Students’ adoption of Twitter as an information source: An exploratory study using the Technology Acceptance Model

Abstract: This study explores the factors that affect students' adoption of Twitter as an information source. It relies on a modified technology acceptance model (TAM). Data were gathered using a survey of 400 social sciences students from Kuwait University. Structural equation modeling was employed to examine the proposed relationships of six factors-perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, social influence, behavioral intention, and actual use-on Twitter usage as an information source. The fin… Show more

“…The result suggests that the variables (PE, PEU, and PU) independently explain 72% of the variance of intention to use (R 2 = 0:724). This result is analogous with prior studies, in which R 2 = 0:506 [13], R 2 = 0:372 [18], R 2 = 0:67 [17], and R 2 = 0:53 [31]. Our result indicates that PU is in uenced by SI at = 0:298, thereby con rming H1.…”

“…Our result indicates that PU is in uenced by SI at = 0:298, thereby con rming H1. This result is similar to the results of [13]. Correspondingly, the path coe cient between SI and BI was determined to be signi cant at = 0:296.…”
