Student Agency in Traditional and Distance Learning from Their Instructors' Perspective

Abstract: Student agency serves as a key factor in student success at university, and a crucial factor in distance learning. The forced transition to teaching with distance educational technologies eased external regulation and showed a picture of student agency. “…Silvennoinen (2020) studied the perception of professional master's degree students regarding the digitalization of work practices in the social and health care sector and found that providing the needed professional competencies and skills education must be done in a blended system. In the same feeling, the study of Zakharova and Vilkova (2020) conclude that both students and teachers of Applied Sciences believe that online courses can be appropriate for soft-skills courses, but practical skills can only be developed in face-to-face teaching.
