Studens Mathematical Problem Solving Ability in Elementary School: The Effect of Guided Discovery Learning

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effect of the Guided Discovery Learning l Model on the mathematical problem solving abilities of elementary school students. The research is a quasi-experimental research. This research was conducted at 01 Suayan, Akabiluru District. The sample uses Simple Random Sampling. The instrument in this study was a test of students' mathematical problem solving abilities followed by a hypothesis tested using the T-Test. In general, the results showed that the average mathematical probl… Show more

“…Based on data obtained from questions number 1 to 5, the average score in the guided discovery class of 92.4 was included in the very high category, and the direct instruction class obtained an average score of 81.7 in the very high category. The results of this study are in line with research conducted by Amini et al (2022) which states that the guided discovery model can improve students' problem-solving abilities, especially the ability to identify problems. However, the results of this study are different from research conducted by Fahira & Budiyanto (2020) where learning with a guided discovery model the lowest indicator value occurs in indicators identifying problems.…”

“…One of the abilities that must be developed in a child is to recognize the concept of numbers (C. Mulyati et al, 2019). Mathematics education in early childhood is a very important thing to pay attention to, especially at this time, one of which is the ability to recognize the concept of numbers (Amini et al, 2022;Jennifer et al, 2014;Rosdiani & Warmansyah, 2021;Wulandani et al, 2022). The ability to recognize the concept of numbers is a beginning math skill (Haryuni, 2013;S.…”

“…Siapkan perangkat Guru memegang peranan penting dalam proses pembelajaran. Keterampilan berpikir guru diasah sehingga mampu berinovasi dalam modul ajar (Amini et al, 2022). Oleh karena itu, pembuatan modul ajar merupakan kompetensi pedagogik guru yang harus dikembangkan agar teknik mengajar guru di kelas lebih efektif dan efisien, serta pembahasannya tidak menyimpang dari indikator kinerja.…”
