Structure, composition and evolution of dispersive optical constants of sputtered TiO2thin films: effects of nitrogen doping

Abstract: Films of nitrogen-doped TiO2 have been successfully deposited on a Si substrate by radio frequency reactive sputtering in a mixture of argon, oxygen and nitrogen. The nitrogen gas ratio varies in the range 0.2–0.4 during the deposition, resulting in TiOxNy films with 3% ≤ y ≤ 6.55% as determined by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Chemical bond state analysis by XPS indicates that nitrogen is effectively incorporated and produces an oxynitride centre as oxygen is replaced by nitrogen. Characterization b… Show more

“…The physical data of Au, Cr 2 O 3 , and ITO are incorporated via the complex dielectric constant measured by spectroscopic ellipsometry. The data for TiO 2 is derived from measurements by spectroscopic ellipsometry based on an amorphous dispersive model [31]. Data for Cr and Ti are taken from handbook data [32].…”

“…The extinction coefficient, however, is slightly higher than expected, presumably due to the low partial pressure of O 2 during deposition. The optical properties of TiO 2 are taken from reference [46] and are plotted in Fig. 13.…”

“…The impacts of TiO 2 NPs on biological systems at cellular level have been put forward recently by scientists and organization [2,[8][9][10][11][12]. TiO 2 NPs can produce free radicals and exhibit a strong oxidizing ability [4,13,14], then affect cellular activity.…”
