Structure and spectroscopy characterization of La1-xSmxVO4 luminescent nanoparticles synthesized co-precipitation and sol-gel methods

Abstract: The Sm-activated orthvanadate nanoparticles with La 1-x Sm x VO 4 (x ≤ 0.3) composition were synthesized by co-precipitation and sol-gel methods. XRD study has shown that synthesized samples are characterized by monoclinic or tetragonal structure as well as their mixture dependently on Sm concentration and methods of synthesis. Influence of method of synthesis on morphology of nanoparticles, their absorption, diffuse reflectance and emission spectra was observed and studied. Luminescence properties and diffuse… Show more

“…This has important effects on the geometry and optical properties of RE compounds and complexes. For instance, nanosized mixed lanthanides such as La 1– x Sm x VO 4 prepared by a sol–gel method have recently been shown to have a crystal structure varying between monoclinic monazite or zircon as a function of slight variations in the Sm content. In turn, the crystal structure determines the efficiency of conversion of UV-violet stimulation into visible light in the photoluminescence spectra of La 1– x Sm x VO 4 . In this work, we pursue two objectives.…”

“…In turn, the crystal structure determines the efficiency of conversion of UV-violet stimulation into visible light in the photoluminescence spectra of La 1−x Sm x VO 4 . 13 In this work, we pursue two objectives. First, we target a systematic structural, vibrational, and optical characterization of mixed REVO 4 compounds, in particular, Sm x Nd 1−x VO 4 solid solutions.…”
