Structure and molecular-weight characteristics of oligo(hexamethyleneguanidine) hydrochlorides

Abstract: Oligo(hexamethyleneguanidine) (OHMG) hydrochloride samples with various molecular weights that were synthesized from hexamethylenediamine and guanidine hydrochloride were characterized by 13 C NMR, ultracentrifugation, and capillary viscosimetry techniques. It was found that OHMG hydrochloride has 0.16 -1.08 branching points per molecule. Number-average molecular weights M n and weight-average molecular weights M w were calculated from 13 C NMR and ultracentrifugation data. A comparative analysis of these char… Show more

“…Injectable depot forms of microparticles (administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously) provide a controlled release of active compounds over weeks and even months, thereby demonstrating a huge advantage over classical dosage forms that, commonly, require daily administration to maintain a therapeutically effective concentration in the blood. Dozens of prolonged release drugs based on PLGA microparticles are used in clinical practice for the treatment of alcohol dependence, cancer, schizophrenia, and many other diseases [37]. We are happy to note that some of them are manufactured in Russia.…”

“…It is known that the biodegradation processes are influenced by the chemical composition including a ratio of links of monomers, possible influence of drug substances [10]. Therefore, for confirmation of the offered field of use of the developed film materials with tiamulin fumarate as devices of medical use it is expedient to investigate the influence of the model biological medium on their structure and properties.…”
