Structure−Activity Relationship Development of Dihaloaryl Triazole Compounds as Insecticides and Acaricides. 1. Phenyl Thiophen-2-yl Triazoles

Abstract: An extended lipophilic system that incorporated some key elements of first-generation 2,6-dihaloaryl actives, such as 1, demonstrated desirable efficacy against chewing insects as well as sap-feeding insects. These four-ring systems, based on 2, were accessed primarily via Suzuki couplings of halothiophene derivatives with appropriately substituted boronic acids. In particular, phenylthiophene systems that incorporated haloxyether groups, such as those in 3, 4, and 5, had the broadest spectrum of activity acro… Show more

“…1,2,4-Triazole, an important class of heterocyclic rings, has attracted increasing attention due to their broad activities, such as fungicidal [1,2], insecticidal [3,4], herbicidal [5,6], and bactericidal [7,8]. It may also serve as a plant growth regulatory agent [9] and has excellent potential in the pesticide field.…”

“…Exhibiting antioxidant , antibacterial , antifungal , antiviral , anesthetic , anti‐inflammatory , insecticidal , and anticancer activities, thiophene derivatives play an important role in searching for novel lead molecules of agrichemicals and pharmaceuticals. In the last decade, some thiophene derivatives, such as thicyofen, ethaboxam, silthiopham, and penthiopyrad, were developed as agrochemicals that effectively control agricultural diseases caused by various plant fungi.…”

“…1,2,4-Triazoles and their condensed derivatives have been investigated due to their wide range of bioactivities, including antimicrobial [5][6][7][8] , analgesic-anti-inflammatory [9] , antifungal [10] , herbicidal [11] , insecticidal activity [12] , anticancer [13,14] , and antigenotoxic activity [15] . It is known that the incorporation of a ferrocene fragment into a molecule of an organic compound often produces unexpected biological activity, likely due to different membrane permeation properties and anomalous metabolism.…”
