Structurally Diverse Matrine‐Based Alkaloids with Anti‐inflammatory Effects from Sophora alopecuroides

Abstract: Main observation and conclusion A phytochemical investigation on the seeds of Sophora alopecuroides led to obtaining fourteen structurally diverse matrine‐based alkaloids (1—14), including eight new ones (1, 6, 8—12, 14). Notably, alopecuroide F (1) represents the first dimeric matrine‐type skeleton assembled via unprecedent C‐13–C‐12' connection. The new structures were determined through extensive spectroscopic data (UV, OR, HRESIMS, 1D, and 2D NMR), ECD calculations, and three instances, verified by X‐ray c… Show more

“…Only V. officinalis and V. bonariensis have some chemical constituents and pharmacological effects research. In previous reports, nuclear magnetic resonance ( Shu et al, 2014 ; Luo et al, 2021 ), HPLC-DAD ( Liu et al, 2012 ), HPLC-MS ( El-Hela et al, 2010 ) and other technologies were used to study the chemical components and content of V. officinalis . In this study, we used UPLC-MS technology to identify the chemical components in V. officinalis extract.…”

“…As far as we know, some pro‐inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF‐α, IL‐1β and IL‐17α, play important roles in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. [ 33‐37 ] For example, IL‐1β is produced by activated macrophages as a proprotein, which is an important mediator of the inflammatory response, and is involved in a variety of cellular activities, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. IL‐17α, an important cytokine of T‐helper 17 (TH17) cell subsets, has key roles in extracellular pathogen protection and also stimulates the inflammatory response in autoimmune disorders.…”
