Structural Study of Nickel(II), Copper(II), and Palladium(II) Complexes of 2-Pyridineformamide 3-Hexamethyleneiminylthiosemicarbazone

Abstract: Reduction of 2-cyanopyridine by sodium in the presence of 3-hexamethyleneiminylthiosemicarbazide produces 2-pyridineformamide 3-hexamethyleneiminylthiosemicarbazone, HAmhexim. Complexes with nickel(II), copper(II) and palladium(II) have been prepared and the following complexes structurally characterized:Coordination is via the pyridyl nitrogen, imine nitrogen and thiolato or thione sulfur atom when coordinating as the anionic or neutral ligand, respec- Strukturuntersuchungen von Nickel(II)-, Kupfer(II)-und Pa… Show more

“…The bond lengths of Cu-Cl range from 2.288(1) to 2.865(1) Å with an average value of 2.576(1) Å, which are normal and comparable with the counterparts found in the literatures. [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25] The bond length of Cu-N py is 2.022(3) Å, which is similar to those reported previously. [26][27][28] The CuCl 4 N 2 octahedra interconnect to each other via two µ 2 -Cl atoms, giving a 1-D chain parallel to the a-axis [ Fig.…”

“…The bond length of Cu-Cl is between 2.2886(7) and 2.920(2) Å, which is close to that of 1 and comparable to those documented. [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25] The bond length of Cu-N py is 2.028(2) Å, similar to that of 1. The CuCl 4 N 2 octahedra connect together through two µ 2 -Cl atoms, yielding a 1-D chain running along the a-axis [ Fig.…”

“…In particular, the shifts in m(C@N) and m(NAN) provide evidence for coordination through the azomethine nitrogen atom [31][32][33]. The appearence of a new band at 480 cm À1 which correspond to the m(NiAN) vibration band is another indication of the involvement of nitrogen of the azomethine group in coordination [34][35][36]. The uncomplexed ligand exhibits the thioamide IV band at 795 cm À1 .…”

“…This is a consequence of the coordination of sulfur from the C@S(NH2) group as reported earlier [27,39]. The new band at 390 cm À1 assigned to m(NiAS) vibration [27,[34][35][36][37][38] is additional evidence for the involvement of the CAS group in bonding. The solid state electronic spectrum (Nujol mull) of the [Ni(DPTSC) 2 Á EtOH shows three bands at 23,753, 19,230 and 15,504 cm À1 assigned to 1 A 1g !…”
