Structural researches on metal complexes of polydentate ligands containing carbonyl and α-diimine moieties. III. Crystal structure and spectroscopic properties of bis{dichloro[2,6-diacetylpyridinebis(picolinoylhydrazonato)]dicopper(II)} dihydrate

Abstract: The crystals of the title compound are monoclinic, space group P21/n. There are four molecules in the unit cell of dimensions a = 11-646, b = 22.831, c = 9.172 A, fl = 90-6 °. The structure has been determined from diffractometer data by Patterson and Fourier methods and refined by block-diagonal least-squares calculations to R = 5.7 % for 4707 independent reflexions. The main features in this compound are the presence of two non-equivalent copper atoms, both pentacoordinated, and the octadentate behaviour of … Show more

“…The unit-cell parameters were obtained by a least-squares fit to the carefully measured values of 15 strong reflections. Crystal data are as follows : C,,H,,N,O,Sn, Orthorhombic, M = 634.30, a = 18.332(10), b = 17.187 (11), G = 9.161(5) A, U = 2 886(3) A3, D, = 1.480 g cm-,, 2 = 4, D, = 1.460,…”

“…Further interest arises because the heptacoordination as found in this complex is rather rare for manganese(lI), the only examples being the [Mn(OH2)Y] 2-ion in Mn3(HY)2.10 H20 (Y -= ethylenediaminetetraacetate) (4) and 10,11,12,13-tetrahydrodibenzo-[b, k ]pyrido [g, f] [ 1,4,7,10,13 ]penta-azacyclopentadecin-N s ' Ni0, N 13, N 18_N 19b_di(perchlorato)manganese, C21 H 19NsMn(ClO4)2 (5). spectroscopic properties and the x-ray analysis.…”

“…The six-membered ring N3-C8-C9-C10-C11-C12 is almost coplanar with the Cu-N3-C8-C7-N2 plane forming ad ihedral angle of 0.9(1)°. The whole hydrazone molecule forms al east squares plane with an rms deviation of fitted atoms of 0.059 Å,from which the N4 atom deviates by 0.505(3) and C1 by 0.266(2) Å.All the bond lengths of the five-and six-membered rings lie in the range observed in a number of pentacoordinated copper(II) complexes [2][3][4][5][6]. The complex is in the enolic form (−C=N−N=), which is also confirmed by the bond lengths of (C6-O) of 1.27 Å and (C6-N1) of 1.33 Å [7].…”
