Structural phase evolution of strontium-doped lead titanate thin films prepared by the soft chemical technique

Abstract: Strontium-modified lead titanate thin films with composition Pb 1−x Sr x TiO 3 were grown on Pt/Ti/SiO 2 /Si substrates using the polymeric precursor method. The structural phase evolution as a function of the Sr contents was studied using micro-Raman scattering, specular reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy, and x-ray diffraction. The results showed a gradual change from tetragonal to cubic structure, the transition occurring at about x ‫ס‬ 0.58. The infrared reflectance spectra showed that the… Show more

“…The room temperature Raman spectrum is in agreement with those reported in the literature, showing all Raman active optical modes. 19 According to the Raman selection rules, all optical modes become Raman inactive above the transition temperature. With the increase of the temperature a decrease in the intensity and a broadening of the Raman peaks can be observed.…”

“…Details of the preparation method can be found in the literature. 19 The polymeric precursor solution was spin-coated on substrates ͓Pt(140 nm͒/Ti (10 nm͒/SiO 2 (1000 nm͒/Si͔ by a commercial spinner operating at 6000 rpm for 30 s ͑spin-coater KW-4B, Chemat Technology͒, via a syringe filter to avoid particulate contamination. After the spinning, the films were kept in ambient air at 150°C on a hot plate for 20 min to remove residual solvents.…”

“…Hence, this paper provides a micro-Raman and XRD investigation on the effect of Er content in the phases and vibrational properties of (Pb,Er)TiO 3 powders, prepared by polymeric precursor method. This method has been used to synthesize nanoparticles and thin films of several polycationcontaining complex oxides [14][15][16].…”
