This paper presents an experimental study of a new grouted splice connection for wall panels, called Welded Bar Sleeve (WBS). The connections were made from steel pipes and tested with incremental tensile, shear and flexural loads until failure. The aim is to determine the behaviour of the connection under the three load cases. For this, the connections are evaluated in terms of the load-displacement responses, ultimate capacities, ductility responses and some feasibility assessment criteria. WBS was found to provide sufficient strength at the bar embedded length of 8, 8 and 11 times the bar diameter under tensile, shear and flexural loads, respectively. It is effective under tension, but could only service up to 1/3 of its ultimate shear capacity. Flexural load is the most critical load case for the connection. For this, further enhancements are required when subjected to shear and flexural loads.

Experimental study of grouted sleeve lapping connector under tensile loadThe performance of the grouted sleeve lapping connector that is used to connect reinforcement bars in a precast concrete structure is studied. A total of 63 specimens, varying in bar diameter and lap length, were tested under tensile load. The failure modes, ultimate tensile strength values and load-displacement curves of the specimens are discussed in the study. Two equations are proposed for calculating the average lapping bond stress and critical lap length. Eksperimentalno ispitivanje injektiranog prstenastog preklopnog spoja uslijed vlačnog opterećenja U radu se analizira izvođenje injektiranog prstenastog spoja koji je korišten za spajanje armaturnih šipki u predgotovljenim betonskim konstrukcijama. Ispitana su ukupno 63 uzorka, koja su se razlikovala po promjeru šipki i duljini spoja uslijed vlačnog opterećenja. Istraživanjem je obuhvaćena vrsta sloma, granična vrijednost vlačne čvrstoće te dijagram opterećenja i progiba uzorka. Preporučena su dva izraza za proračun prosječnog naprezanja prstenastog spoja i kritične duljine spoja.Ključne riječi: predgotovljena betonska konstrukcija, ovijanje prstenastog spoja, prokliznuće prianjanja, duljina preklopa

Based on the existing developed type I and III sleeve with big inner diameter, simple processing and convenient reinforcement bar connector construction, the paper designed and completed pseudo static test on a piece of comparison cast-in-situ shear wall, two pieces of longitudinal reinforcement adopted on type I and type III sleeve connector pre-cast shear wall. The experimental results are as following: the main failure modes of precast wall are basically consistent with that of cast-in-situ wall. However, the crack of pre-cast wall appears in latency comparatively to that of cast-in-situ wall. The initial fracture of cast-in-situ wall appears at the bottom of the wall. However, due to the vertical constraint of the sleeve, initial fracture of the pre-cast wall appears at the upper part of sleeve; the bearing capacity and energy dissipation of pre-cast wall is basically the same to the bearing capacity of cast-in-situ wall. The limiting displacement drift ratio of pre-cast wall is bigger than that of cast-in-situ wall; type I and type III sleeve can perfectly transfer reinforcement stress of pre-cast concrete shear wall. It is convenient and feasible to apply type I and type III sleeve on the pre-cast shear wall.
