“…The wide D-peaks (D w ≈ 250 cm −1 ) and D-peaks lower than the G-peaks in the Raman spectra of the CMVs are comparable to the features of the spectra of the CMs that have experienced a zeolite facies grade metamorphism (Yui et al 1996) or a <250°C grade metamorphism (Rahl et al 2005). This estimated temperature matches the burial depth of the Xujiahe Formation well, which is no more than 8 km in the western Sichuan Basin (Jia et al 2010).…”

“…The primary direction of σ H in Yong'an borehole can be defined as NWW direction. Comparing to mode of faulting, global position system (GPS) data related to the Longmenshan region, focal mechanism solution (FMS) of the Wenchuan earthquake (main shock and aftershocks M ≥ 4), and stress database of continental China, it can be stated that the preponderant orientations of σ H in the Yingxiu, Leigu, and Yong'an boreholes are consistent with these geological and geophysical results, although the NNW-SN direction in deep depth in Leigu borehole shows some scatter (Liu et al, 2012;Jia et al, 2010;Xie et al, 2003;Yi et al, 2012). The scatter may be induced by the adjustments of the Longmenshan fault belt after the main shock, the reactivation of pre-existing sub-faults and the NNW trending Minshan fault in this region that are motivated by adjustment of the regional crustal stress field (Yi et al, 2012).…”

“…Petroleum seismic reflection data [35] indicate that along the southwestern part of the seismogenic fault, the Yingxiu-Beichuan and Guanxian-Anxian faults plunge at different angles, with the former being steep and the latter gentle, they converge at a depth of about 8-10 km. The merged deep fault ramp can reach depths of 18-20 km, as a transition to the inferred main detachment zone ( Figure 4).…”

“…Shen et al [34] simulated the attitude change and rupture process of the seismogenic fault using InSAR and GPS data. Jia et al [35] analyzed the relationships between tectonic features of the upper crust of the Longmenshan fault zone and those of the Wenchuan earthquake using petroleum seismic exploration data. These data are of significant importance for the study of deep-seated activity of the seismogenic fault.…”
