Structural, Dielectric and Electrical Properties of (1-x)CaCu3Ti4O12−xBaTiO3 Ceramics

Abstract: In this work, the effect of BaTiO3 (BT) addition on structural, dielectric and electrical properties of CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) ceramic was investigated. Ceramic samples with the chemical formula (1-x)CaCu3Ti4O12 -xBaTiO3, (1-x)CCTO-xBT, (x = 0.00, 0.10, 0.20, 0.30, 0.50 and 1.00) were synthesized by solid state route. The structural studies carried out by X-ray diffraction technique and showed that the perovskite structure cubic and tetragonal phases were formed without any other impurity phases. The addition of B… Show more

“…Rietveld analysis confirms the formation of the pure bodycentred cubic perovskite-related structure of space group Im3 and the unit cell parameters were calculated. The lattice parameters obtained of pure CCC 0.00 TO at 950 0 C and CCC 0.00 TO at 1050 0 C (Table 1) are in good agreement with those reported in literature 7,8 , Rietveld refinement results show that the crystal structure and lattice parameters do not change when the temperature of calcination changes from 950 °C to 1050 0 C for 4 h.…”

“…CCTO exhibits a combination of high permittivity and modest dielectric loss. It has been extensively investigated for their temperature independent dielectric permittivity without a ferroelectric transition over a large temperature range 1,[7][8][9] . These investigations concern the origin of the huge dielectric permittivity.…”

“…Almeida et al [7] investigated the properties of the composite BaTiO3-CCTO film and its potential use as antennas and microdevices. In an analogous previous work, N. Hadi et al [8] investigated the stability of the perovskite phase and the dielectric properties in the (1-x)CCTOxBaTiO 3 ceramic (CCTO and BaTiO 3 perovskites), the value of dielectric constant was about 56,000 …”

“…Among those efforts, extensive studies of the formation of perovskite oxides of the systems Ca 1-x M x Ti 1-x M x O 3 (M = Cu, Y, Sr, Ba, Pb, Zr, Co, Al, Fe, Li, Cr) were performed as attempts to improve the properties of ceramic materials 8 . At present, research work has begun on the basis of the idea of integrating ceramic materials, among them; Almeida et al 9 , they studied the properties of the composite (1-x)BaTiO 3 -xCCTO film (x=0.00,0.50 and 1.00), N. Hadi et al 10 investigated the dielectric properties of the (1x)CCTO-xBaTiO 3 composites. In an analogous previous work 11 , we investigated the properties of the (1-x)CCTO-xPZT composite ceramics with a ratio Zr/Ti = 65/35, beyond the morphotropic phase and for which PZT presents a tetragonal phase.…”
