Structural Damage Localization Using D-S Evidence Theory

Abstract: Damage localization is a key issue in the Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). In order to enhance the accuracy of damage localization, an approach based on D-S evidence theory is studied in this paper. First, damage results obtained from the modal strain energy change ratio (MSECR) method and the multiple damage location assurance criterion (MDLAC) method are regarded as two independent information sources, respectively. And then, the D-S evidence theory-based information fusion technique is employed to integr… Show more

“…where n is the number of the characteristic values, which is 12 here, l is 2, E k is the kth evidence body, and Z ji is the ith characteristic value of the focal element H j. The Minkowski distances between the evidence bodies and the identification frame are indicated by the following matrix Based on it, equation (17) can be used to carry out the basic probability assignment. 16,17…”

“…Plane truss numerical analog and offshore platform model experimental results verify that the information fusion technology can enlarge the difference of damage identification measures between the damaged area and healthy areas. Jianhua Zhao [13] derived information fusion from the damage identification results of modal strain energy change rate method and multi-damage location safety factor method. The numerical test results of a cantilever?…”
