Structural and thermal properties of pure and chromium doped zinc oxide nanoparticles

Abstract: Pure ZnO and Cr-doped ZnO nanoparticles have been synthesized via a facile chemical co-precipitation route and their structural, thermal characteristics were discussed systematically. In the experimental producer, the doping concentration has varied the range, 0.05–0.1 M, while calcined at 600 °C. The influence of Cr-doping on the physical characteristics of ZnO nanoparticles was investigated and addressed. As-prepared samples were analyzed via XRD, FTIR, TGA/DTA, BET, and ICP-MS. XRD analysis shows that ZnO a… Show more

“…The absorption peaks showed at ~3457 and 1643 cm −1 indicate the stretching and bending vibration mode of O-H as a result of water molecule adsorbed on the prepared sample surface. Moreover, the FTIR peak at ~473 cm −1 indicates the stretching vibrational mode of the Zn-O bond [39,48]. The results indicate that the Crdoped ZnO catalyst was synthesized successfully.…”

“…Zinc oxide (ZnO) semiconducting QDs have been one of the most important and largely investigated metal oxides for decades, 4 but still, they are considered a hot research topic globally owing to their exceptional optical properties, 5 excellent chemical and thermal stability, 6 cost-effectiveness, eco-friendly behavior, non-toxicity and biocompatibility 7 with a wide direct band gap of 3.37 eV, 8,9 large excitonic binding energy (60 meV) 10 and existence in a hexagonal zincite form. 10 So far, several solution-based techniques have been developed to synthesize ZnO QDs; 11 among them the colloidal method is the most widely used and popular as it is inexpensive, comparatively efficient, and relatively simple.…”
