“…However, upon further increasing the Ho 3+ doping level, the M s value of the specimens gradually decreases because the incorporation of Ho 3+ on the B sites reaches saturation, as demonstrated by the XRD results in Section IIIA. Meanwhile, the replacement of Fe 3+ ions on the B sites by Ho 3+ drives a small portion of Ni 2+ and Fe 3+ ions to migrate to the A sites (also see the XPS results presented in Figure ) . Consequently, the magnetic moment on the A sites is enhanced.…”

“…The peak at approximately 855 eV with a satellite peak at approximately 861 eV is attributed to Ni 2+ ions in the specimens. 24,25 Interestingly, after the doping of Sm 3+ and/or Ho 3+ ions, which preferably occupy the octahedral B sites, 22,23 a peak shift appears in the spectra, which is clearly observed from the fitted three peaks (see the strong and sharp peak centered at 854.7-855.0 eV, the weak broad peak at 856.2-856.5 eV, and its satellite peak). These results indicate that although Ni 2+ ions are preferably located in the B sites of the ferrites, some of the dopants might migrate from the B sites to the A sites or exist in other forms of nickel oxides.…”
