“…These NbO 6 octahedra are arranged in such a manner that three different interstitial sites exist in the unit cell. Only Sr atoms occupy the 12‐fold coordinated tetragonal A1 sites, whereas both Sr and Ba atoms occupy the larger 15‐fold coordinated pentagonal A2 sites; trigonal C sites are vacant, as are one‐sixth of the total A1 and A2 sites . Such a complex structure allows for the effective scattering of phonons and thus, thermal conductivities as low as 0.8 W/m·K have been reported for SBN single crystals .…”

“…Any further detail about the preparation and the characterization of SBN films can be found in the previous reports of the author. [31][32][33][34] It is to be noted that SBN is a low coercive field ferroelectric material: E c is a few kV/cm in SBN crystals, and about 6 kV/cm in the epitaxial SBN:60 film used in this work. The latter value is 20 times lower than the coercive field reported to be about 110-120 kV/cm in PbZr x Ti 1Àx O 3 (PZT) epitaxial films.…”

“…The non linear properties of the SBN epitaxial thin films we prepare compete with those of (Ba, Sr)TiO 3 thin films for dielectric tunability and with those of LiNbO 3 crystals for electro-optic properties [1,2]. However the polarization, piezoelectric and electro-optic coefficients of SBN films are obtained lower, by a common factor about 5, than those of SBN crystals.…”
