Strontium and Strontium Compounds

Abstract: The main application for strontium, an alkaline‐earth metal, is in the form of strontium compounds. The carbonate, used in cathode ray tubes (CRTs) for color televisions and color computer monitors, is used both in the manufacturing of the glass envelopes of CRTs and in the phosphors which give the color. Owing to use as a eutectic modifier in aluminum–silicon casting alloys, rapid growth of metal production has occurred. The addition of strontium changes the microstructure of the alloy, resulting in improved … Show more

“…Sr is an alkaline earth metal, usually in the form of SrSO4 and SrSO3 in the Earth's crust 67 (Jie et al 2014). A large number of digital cathode ray tubes are derived from SR (Hibbins 2000), so the source of Sr may be from YJQ sampling point. Factor 3, which explains only the contribution of 9.4% (Fig.…”

“…4 element of alkaline earth metals with the atomic number of 38. It is an essential microelement; the daily strontium intake by an adult is approximately 4 mg 26 . Strontium is poorly absorbed by the body, with an absorption level of approximately 25%–30%; thus, its content is only 0.035% of the calcium content.…”
