Strobe double phase estimator: a multipath mitigating technique for BOC signal in GNSS based on double phase estimator

Abstract: Summary Double phase estimator (DPE) is an unambiguous binary offset carrier (BOC) tracking algorithm for band‐limited receivers in Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Based on the strobe pulse method, the DPE was modified by introducing a strobe waveform in the prompt signal correlation process of the subcarrier phase lock loop in this paper.. This strobe DPE (SDPE) employs no additional correlators. Two different reference strobe waveforms and their receiving structures are provided. The performance of the … Show more

“…A recent method called strobe double phase estimator (SDPE), given in Chengtao et al, exploits effectively the BOC subcarrier. This method is based on the use of two strobe reference waveforms which replace the usual subcarrier tracked by the SPLL in the DPE technique .…”

“…A recent method called strobe double phase estimator (SDPE), given in Chengtao et al, exploits effectively the BOC subcarrier. This method is based on the use of two strobe reference waveforms which replace the usual subcarrier tracked by the SPLL in the DPE technique . The SDPE allows to mitigate the MP biased phase error induced by those echoes whose delays are larger than the strobe gate width .…”

“…Therefore, the ambiguity is always present because of the lack of robustness of phase estimation process in degraded environment [11][12][13][14]. In order to avoid the negative impact of the MPs phenomenon, a recent method, called SDPE, is proposed in [15]. This method effectively exploits the subcarrier as the actual ingredient that distinguishes BOC modulated signals from BPSK modulated signals [15].…”

“…In order to avoid the negative impact of the MPs phenomenon, a recent method, called SDPE, is proposed in [15]. This method effectively exploits the subcarrier as the actual ingredient that distinguishes BOC modulated signals from BPSK modulated signals [15]. Its principle is to generate two strobe reference waveforms that replace the usual subcarrier that is tracked using the Subcarrier Phase Locked Loop (SPLL) in the Double Phase Estimator (DPE) technique [15].…”
