Strive to Reduce Slurry Erosion and Cavitation in Pumps through Flow Modifications, Design Optimization and Some Other Techniques: Long Term Impact on Process Industry

Abstract: Centrifugal pumps are being widely used in various industries for moving fluids that carry solids through pipelines where the need of head and flow rate is not high. Slurry erosion and cavitation are an extremely complex and not yet fully understood phenomenon that occur in centrifugal pumps; however, these undesirable phenomena can be reduced to a certain extent. Appropriate design and development of experiments is required to reasonably predict slurry erosion and cavitation. However, CFD methodology compleme… Show more

“…%17,6 oranında düşürdüğü tespit edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla pompa seçiminde yanlış bir karar alınması işletme, bakım ve ekonomik kullanım açısından kullanıcılarda uzun süreli bir rahatsızlığa sebep olacaktır [7]. Pompa verimini artırmak için bazı araştırmacılar çarkların yüzeyini çeşitli kimyasallarla kaplayarak çarka hidrofobik özellik kazandırmışlardır.…”

“…Centrifugal pumps play a crucial role in various industries, including water conservancy, agricultural irrigation, and petrochemical fields, where the transported fluids often contain solid particles. However, prolonged operation in solid-liquid flow subjects centrifugal pump components to erosion, resulting in damaged parts, reduced efficiency, and shortened lifespan [1]. For example, Erosion in hydraulic machines operating in rivers with sand, such as the rivers of the Himalayas and the Yellow River in China, is a major concern.…”

“…Single-blade centrifugal non-clogging pumps offer excellent passage capacity, wear resistance, and high efficiency. They provide reliable support for tasks on oil platforms, including seawater cleaning, well maintenance, fire sprinkler systems, and sewage treatment OPEN ACCESS EDITED BY (Noon et al, 2021;Li et al, 2023;Quan et al, 2021). The nonclogging pump is characterized by strong conveying capacity, wear resistance, and high efficiency.…”
