“…Many doctors in this cohort had expressed concerns in their comments to us when first surveyed in 2006 about the new application procedures for entry to specialty training scheduled for introduction in 2007. These concerns are now a matter of historical record11 but they related in particular to problems applying for and obtaining training posts through a new national application process which was both untested and which proved to have technical faults.
