Opinion leaders have important roles to boost the successful of the government policies and programs implementation. The climate village program is a form of national climate change policy to reduce climate change impacts. The program will not run smoothly without roles from various parties, especially the opinion leaders. The research aimed to reveal the roles of opinion leaders in encouraging the implementation of national climate change policy at the grassroots level. This research was a qualitative descriptive study conducted in Pendulan Hamlet, Sleman. The results of this study found that the successful implementation of the national climate change policy in the form of a climate village program at the hamlet cannot be separated from the role of its opinion leaders. The research found that opinion leaders have played strategic and crucial roles in bringing the successful of the climate village program implementation. There were at least three important roles played by opinion leaders on the success of the program. The roles they played that support the success of the program were motivator, initiator and communicator.

Media Advocacy in Climate Action: Showcasing Best Practices in West Africa

Despite the level of threat climate change poses to humanity, climate action is poorly advocated for using one of the most powerful and easily accessible tools, the media. This stands particularly true in West Africa, the part of the planet factually concluded to be most severely affected in the case of possible climate crises. Using desktop review, this research was carried out to comb through existing literature for evidence of Africa's active advocacy for climate action through the utilization of the media. In its aim to do so, the researchers examined a total of 144 sources. 52 sources were seen to achieve best practices, based on the authors’ conceptualization of media advocacy (a measure that incorporates sustainability). Out of the sources examined, the best practices were found most in Southern Africa and least in Western Africa. Furthermore, the best media practices to carry out climate advocacy in West Africa were highlighted and explained in detail. The study contributes to the scarce literature showcasing best media practices in advocating for sustainable actions in climate adaptation with West Africa. It has the potential to open new themes and spark media discourse surrounding the drivers of sustainable climate actions in West Africa, a region with the lowest enthusiasm for climate action amongst other regions in Africa. The paper acts as a wake-up call for countries in West Africa to emulate the showcased practices in tackling climate challenges.

Perubahan iklim adalah sebuah persoalan global yang dihadapi seluruh umat manusia. Orang-orang perlu mengetahui bagaimana cara menghadapi perubahan iklim. Secara umum, ada dua strategi utama untuk mengurangi resiko dari dampak perubahan iklim. Salah satunya adalah mitigasi perubahan iklim. Strategi ini terdiri dari upaya-upaya untuk mengurangi atau mencegah peningkatan emisi gas rumah kaca. Dalam konteks ini, remaja pun memiliki peran penting untuk ambil bagian dan melakukan aksi nyata. Salah satu bentuk aksi nyata tersebut adalah dengan mendaur ulang sampah plastik. Sampah plastik adalah salah satu sumber emisi gas rumah kaca. Oleh karena itu, aksi ini sangatlah penting untuk dilakukan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membekali remaja keterampilan untuk mendaur ulang sampah plastik terutama botol plastik bekas. Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah mitra kegiatan telah memiliki keterampilan untuk mendaur ulang sampah plastik menjadi benda-benda yang menarik dan bernilai guna.
