“…5 which show the world data for the reaction pp → pK 0 Σ + . All data above ǫ = 300 MeV stem from bubble chamber experiments [22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30]. The data show a relatively large scatter, however indicate a rather constant total cross section over a wide energy range.…”

“…In fact, the only exper-0 Σ + final state in proton-proton collisions imental data for this reaction stem from the search for the supposed pentaquark state Θ + (pp → Σ + Θ + , Θ + → pK 0 ) carried out by the COSY-TOF collaboration [21]. At higher excess energies measurements of total cross sections were published originating from the bubble chamber experiments in the 1960s [22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29] (compiled in [30]). These data show, although with a large scatter, the total cross section to be rather constant (≈ 20 µb) over a wide energy range (350 MeV < ǫ < 2000 MeV).…”

“…It would appear that it reasonably describes the experimental data on Gpp~K+ x in the energy range covered. However, as was emphasized in [4], in which the basic experimental data on the partial cross sections at eo = 7 were obtained, in that experiment somewhat more than 50% of all events with the formation of strangeness are taken into account. With this in mind, in [20] a value of 0.9 mb was chosen as a real estimate of the total cross section for the production of K + mesons at e 0 = 7 and it was taken as reference for the approximation (la) proposed there (see also Fig.…”

“…Three issues were mainly investigated thereby: the production of N * resonances and their subsequent decay into K + Λ [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10], the pΛ final state interaction [7,[11][12][13], and the cusp structure appearing at 2.13 GeV in the pΛ invariant mass distribution [14][15][16]. A fourth aspect was recently added to this list with the investigation of the kaonic nuclear bound state KN N by the DISTO collaboration [17,18].…”
