Two new furanocoumarins, 5-(1 " ,1 " -dimethylallyl)-8-methyl psoralen (1) and 2 " -O-acetyl oxypeucedanin hydrate-3 " -methyl ether (2), were isolated from the root heartwood of Ficus carica Linn. together with three known furanocoumarins, two triterpenoids, two long-chain compounds, and a steroid. Their structures and relative confi gurations were elucidated by spectroscopic methods (IR, HR-ESI-MS, and NMR) and by comparison of their NMR spectral data with those of related compounds.

RESUMOO gênero Copaifera L. é um dos mais importantes economicamente na Região Amazônica devido, principalmente, à produção dos óleos de copaíba, oléo-resinas com diversas propriedades farmacológicas confirmadas. Apesar disso, os estudos fitoquímicos com as sementes das árvores do gênero Copaifera L. são raros. Copaifera officinalis foi a primeira espécie do gênero Copaifera a ser descrita. Este trabalho descreve a composição dos extratos obtidos em hexano e em acetato de etila das sementes de C. officinalis. No extrato obtido em hexano, a análise por cromatografia em fase gasosa utilizando padrões e através de espectrometria de massas permitiu a identificação de: esqualeno, tetradecano, hexadecano, campesterol, estigmasterol e b-sitosterol; os ácidos graxos hexadecanóico, 9-octadecenóico e octadecanóico (majoritários); e decanóico, eicosanóico, docosanóico e tetracosanóico (minoritários). Cumarina foi isolada do extrato em acetato de etila e identificada por técnicas de RMN. PALAVRAS-CHAVECopaifera officinalis L.; cumarina; ácidos graxos. In this study, we synthesized several imperatorin analogs using imperatorin and xanthotoxin as substrates. The anti-cholinesterase activities of all compounds were evaluated in in vitro experiments according to the modified Ellman's method. For each synthesized compound, IC50 values for both enzymes were established. Galantamine hydrobromide was used as a positive control in the enzymatic experiments. All active compounds showed selectivity toward butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) rather than acetylcholinesterase. The most active ones were 8-(3-methylbutoxy)-psoralen and 8-hexoxypsoralen with IC50 values for BuChE of around 16.5 and 16.4 µM, respectively. The results of our study may be considered as the beginning of a search for potential anti-Alzheimer's disease drugs based on the structure of natural furocoumarins.
