Stem cells applications in bone and tooth repair and regeneration: New insights, tools, and hopes

Abstract: The exploration of stem and progenitor cells holds promise for advancing our understanding of the biology of tissue repair and regeneration mechanisms after injury. This will also help in the future use of stem cell therapy for the development of regenerative medicine approaches for the treatment of different tissue-species defects or disorders such as bone, cartilages, and tooth defects or disorders. Bone is a specialized connective tissue, with mineralized extracellular components that provide bones with bot… Show more

“…Hence, this study demonstrates that the bottleneck of bioengineered tooth innervation can be circumvented by using innovative antagonist of NRP1. While strengthening the demonstration of the proof of concept of a TM domain targeting peptides as useful drugs in vivo, our results contribute to the development of mounting tooth repair strategies (Abdel Meguid, Ke, Ji, & El‐Hashash, ).…”

“…There are several mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) sources available for clinical applications. Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUCMSCs) are MSCs found in the umbilical cords and may be a prospective candidate for use in tissue regeneration [1]. Compared to other sources of stem cells from adult tissues, HUCMSCs are more primitive, non-invasive in terms of collection, provide high proliferation potential, high differentiation potential, immune-privileged, immunosuppressive, and rich in stemness [2].…”
