Stem cells and common biomaterials in dentistry: a review study

Abstract: Stem cells exist as normal cells in embryonic and adult tissues. In recent years, scientists have spared efforts to determine the role of stem cells in treating many diseases. Stem cells can self-regenerate and transform into some somatic cells. They would also have a special position in the future in various clinical fields, drug discovery, and other scientific research. Accordingly, the detection of safe and low-cost methods to obtain such cells is one of the main objectives of research. Jaw, face, and mouth… Show more

“…PBM may enhance differentiation, which increases the healing rate of tissues, by affecting susceptible stem cells and progenitor cells. PBMT improves stem cell proliferation in multiple studies, including gingival fibroblasts, as well as BM‐ and adipose‐derived mesenchymal stem cells, and permanent teeth‐ and exfoliated deciduous teeth‐derived DPSCs 36,135,136 . Irradiation displaces inhibitory nitric oxide (NO), activating chromophore c oxidase via copper and heme centers.…”

“…4 Guided tissue (GTR) and Guided bone regeneration (GBR) techniques are surgical approaches employed to regenerate oral soft and hard tissue deficiencies, respectively. 5 Furthermore, in regenerative procedures, growth factors, 6 stem cell (SC), and gene therapy approaches [7][8][9] have improved GTR and GBR. Undifferentiated cells derived from various human body tissues, known as stem cells, could differentiate into a broad phenotypic range of cells.…”

“…To obtain reliable measurements, it is not easy to assess facial volume reduction. It has been attempted to measure the accuracy of many methods, but many are inaccurate, complicated, costly, or difficult to standardize [ 21 32 ]. The measurement of facial soft tissue has traditionally been performed by probing the needle and measuring its penetration depth [ 21 , 33 ].…”
