Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion. Therapy using conventional anti-diabetic drugs is associated with serious side effects, and herbs to maintain chronic disease if conventional drugs not adequate. The purpose of this article review is to find out information about plants of the Zingiberaceae family that have anti-diabetic activity with the mechanism of action of ? -glucosidase enzyme inhibition, ? -amylase enzyme inhibition, and increased GLP-1 levels. The sources used consisted of 27 journals and reviewed 9 research journals originating from Google Scholar, Pubmed, NCBI, Elsevier, Science Direct with a span of under 10 years. The articles were then analyzed using the systematic literature review method, by collecting, evaluating, and developing research on a particular topic. From several studies conducted, the results showed that plants from the family that have antidiabetic activity include Zingiber officinale (ginger), Curcuma longa (turmeric rhizome), Curcuma aeruginosa (temu hitam), Curcuma zanthorrhiza (curcuma), Zingiber cassumunar (bangle), Kaempferia galanga (kencur), Alpinia galanga (lengkuas), Etlingera elatior (kecombrang, honje), and Elettaria cardamomum (kapulaga). Pemberian terapi pasien DM dengan obat-obatan oral maupun injeksi membutuhkan biaya yang tidak sedikit dan juga efek samping seperti alergi pada kulit, kolestasis, hipoglikemi, anemia aplastik dan anemia hemolitik. Dengan banyaknya efek samping yang ditimbulkan akibat penggunaan obat-obatan DM maka banyak dari penderita DM yang mulai beralih ke pengobatan tradisional. Salah satu jenis tanaman yang berasal dari famili cucurbitaceae yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai antidiabetes adalah Cucurbita moschata atau yang oleh masyarakat dikenal dengan nama labu kuning. Labu kuning mengandung banyak senyawa fenolik alami sehingga menjadikannya memiliki potensi sebagai antioksidan, antidiabetes dan antihiperglikemik. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama bulan Februari-Mei 2023 di Laboratorium Program Studi Farmasi Universitas Sam Ratulangi Manado. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas antidiabetes ekstrak etanol daun labu kuning terhadap kadar glukosa darah dan berat badan tikus putih jantan yang diinduksi aloksan dosis 120 mg/kgBB. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium dengan menggunakan metode pre test and post test with control group design. Tikus dikelompokkan dalam 5 kelompok, masing terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus. Kelompok I sebagai kontrol positif diberikan metformin, kelompok II sebagai kontrol negatif diberikan Na CMC 0,5%, kelompok III, IV dan V sebagai kelompok perlakuan diberikan ekstrak dosis 150 mg/kgBB, 300 mg/kgBB, dan 600 mg/kgBB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak etanol daun labu kuning memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah tikus P (< 0,05) serta pengaruh yang tidak signifikan terhadap berat badan tikus P (> 0,05) dan ekstrak dosis terbaik dalam menurunkan kadar glukosa darah tikus adalah dosis 600 mg/kgBB.

Banana peels have not been utilized optimally, just disposed of as organic waste or used as animal feed. Ripe banana peel skin is rich of chemical compounds which are antioxidants, both flavonoid compounds and other phenolic compounds. Banana peel contains high antioxidant activity compared to meat, especially "Raja Bulu" banana skin which has antioxidant equal to 97,85%. Natural source of antioxidants in banana peel skin is very beneficial for health. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of various drying temperature on antioxidant activity and the optimum drying temperature to antioxidant activity. This study also aims to determine the level of panelist's preference for herbal drinks of "Raja Bulu" banana peel with various drying temperatures. The type of research used is True Experimental Research. The study design was using RAL with 4 treatment P0 (control), P1 (drying temperature 75°C), P2 (drying temperature 80°C), P3 (drying temperature 85°C). Data is included the amount of antioxidant activity content and the average of organoleptic properties of banana peel herbal drink. Data analysis techniques used are One Way Anova and qualitative descriptive. The results showed 1) Various drying temperature effect on the antioxidant activity of banana peel herbal drink. 2) The best treatment is P3 (drying temperature 85°C) with antioxidant activity of 84,87%.3) The result of the panelist's favorite test for the best color, flavor and taste on P3 treatment with 85°C drying temperature.
