Status of existing weather observation station network in Tanzania and the possibility to automate and densify it

Abstract: We present the status of the existing network of weather observation stations in Tanzania. The information collected to assess the challenges that should be addressed when planning to automate and densify this network is presented. We also recommend the possible sites to be considered in the densification process based on meteorological considerations. Furthermore, possible upstream links, necessary to make data from remote stations globally accessible via Internet, are suggested.
