Statistical Approach for Water Glass Precursor Preparation from Bamboo Leaf Silica

Abstract: The bamboo leaf consists of high silica content. In this study, the bamboo silica was utilized as water glass. Water glass can also be used as eco-friendly precursors for the preparation of silica aerogel. The extraction process of silica from bamboo leaf have been carried out through acid leaching and combustion process at 750°C based on thermal gravimetry analysis. This paper is aimed to assess the effect of two types of alkali hydroxide and concentrations producing water glass of bamboo leaf silica. The res… Show more

“…In a geothermal power slurry can be produced up to 10 tons/day from which approximately 10% solid is produced [1]. Silica is used for various purposes over many fields such as glass coating [5], xerogel silica [6], superhydrophobic coating [7][8][9][10][11], aerogel silica [12], adsorbent of organic compounds [13,14], silica gel in the food industry, sensors, packaging, carrier media [15], and mesoporous silica [16][17][18], cement mixture [19,20]; and environmentally friendly precursors [21]. It can also be formed into silicone (Si) as a material in electronic equipment, photovoltaic cells, the anode for lithium batteries [22], solar grade [23], and semiconductor materials.…”
