State of the art in evaluation and interpretation of displacement monitoring data in tunnels / Stand der Auswertung und Interpretation von Verschiebungsmessdaten bei Tunneln

Abstract: In many countries observations of the system behaviour are executed during tunnel construction. However, the enormous potential of modern monitoring and evaluation methods is frequently not utilised. This paper presents different and nowadays common evaluation methods and their benefit is highlighted. Case studies are used for illustration. Beobachtungen des Systemverhaltens während des Tunnelbaus werden in vielen Ländern durchgeführt. Häufig wird jedoch das enorme Potenzial moderner Mess‐ und Auswertemethoden… Show more

“…Even if it is not always possible to carry out sophisticated back-analyses during construction, further analyses aimed at better understanding the rock mass behaviour and the lining response could lead to improved geotechnical and structural design for construction works under similar conditions. A significant number of publications dealing with the interpretation of lining displacement and prediction of rock mass behaviour are already available [1] [2]. Attempts aimed at interpreting and determining stresses or pressures recorded directly on the shotcrete lining are however limited [3].…”
