The paper presents a new method of forecasting the durability of piston-rings-cylinder (PRC) liner assembly of the internal combustion engine on the basis of observed changes of physical and chemical properties of engine oil. Methods used so far for the durability evaluation of the PRC group required collecting information about the moments when the assembly reached its boundary state or used kinetic models of wear designed using accelerated research of real objects. In the proposed method, for the evaluation of durability of engine cylinders information gathered form engine oil is used. Course of changes of the proposed index of change intensity of kinematic viscosity at the temperature of 100°C – Cv100 allows for evaluation of the durability of PRC assembly of an IC engine. Obtained value was positively verified using forecasting method related to the technical criteria based on the assessment of the wear intensity.

The object of this study is a multicriteria transport problem, being stated for availability of several means of cargo delivery, meaning a multimodal transport problem. The optimization criteria of the multimodal transport problem described above are two objective functions of minimizing total transportation costs and level of transport risks. Three types of transport were selected for research: automobile, rail and river (inland waterway). The results of the study lay the foundation for development of a new valid algorithm for solving multimodal transport problems like multi-criteria optimization ones. The main advantage of such an algorithm lies in its higher potential convergence rate compared to classical numerical optimization methods, which now are predominantly used to solve the problems of this type. This advantage may not be decisive, but it appears to be at least quite an important argument when choosing the method of realization for two-criteria multimodal transport problems earlier considered, especially, in case of a large dimension. Moreover, the algorithm described in the work can be applied to similar problems with any number of types of transport and optimization criteria.

When a trolleybus travels through insulated sections of the overhead contact line, it experiences momentary power interruptions, which adversely affect the vehicle’s on-board auxiliary subassemblies. To reduce these negative effects, one can harness energy recovered via regenerative braking. A model power supply circuit diagram for structural systems of the trolleybus is proposed. Simulation tests were carried out to develop a method for analyzing power supply to trolleybus auxiliary devices and verify it in a real-life example. The results allow determination of the limit power that can be generated by the trolleybus drive system to feed auxiliary devices during interruptions in power supply from the overhead contact line. The possibility of powering the on-board auxiliary equipment of a trolleybus using energy from recuperation with a traction motor is presented.
