“…For the Ag nanoaggreates, the best SERS enhancement was obtained mainly due to enormously enlarging the amount of contact spots between every pair of particles from the formation of inner planar structures by comparing with the silver nanoparticles coated on a glass substrate and the mAg powders, here the silver nanoparticles coated on a glass substrate are approximately spheroidal in shape with particle size ranging from 300 to 600 nm (see Fig. 5) and the micromorphology of mAg powders is irregular (data not shown) [29].…”

“…6 can thus be attributed to 4-MPH adsorbed on Ag. The intense Raman signals at about 1076 and 1599 cm À1 arise from the ring breathing and the ring 8a band of 4-MPH, respectively [29], though the relative spectral intensities are somewhat different between mAg powders and the Ag nanoaggreates. Surprisingly, the Raman peak intensities of 4-MPH band at $1076 cm À1 adsorbed on the Ag nanoaggreates in Fig.…”

“…In the previous report, self‐assembled monolayers of 4MPBA were labile in basic solution, in which the terminal B–C bonds would cleave to yield 4‐mercaptophenol (4MP) by treatment with hydroxide ions and strongly basic amine nucleophiles. Considering that the pH value of the Ag colloidal solution was neutral and the SERS spectra of 4MP should be significantly different from that of TP, we found that not 4MP but TP should be formed on AgNPs. Considering that AgNPs may produce unstable reactive oxygen species, it is expected that 4MPBA may undergo deboronation surface reactions.…”

“…SERS spectra can be calibrated with respect to the spectral features of the IS, allowing the normalized intensity of analyte peaks to serve as proxy for the relative concentration of analyte to IS. There are several schemes for the use of IS, including core-molecule-shell nanoparticle (CMS NP) systems [10][11][12] and simple surface adsorption systems. CMS NPs can be useful because the IS is protected from the surrounding environment, affording no opportunity for surface site replacement.…”
