Stability of soybean seed composition

Abstract: Stability of protein and oil content of 13 soybean varieties were examined using linear model across seven locations and during six years. Due to heterogeneity of environments all year/locations was distributed in to two groups, based on achieved yield. Stability of protein content differed in the low and high yielding environments, while average values show only minor differences. In contrast, oil content stability was slightly changed in the low and high yielding environments, while the average oil con… Show more

“…However, the selection of highly stable varieties can be difficult when a breeder has to consider individual GEI of multiple traits under multiple environments. Notably, the GEI of quality characters of soybean has been studied previously by several investigators [12,[15][16][17][18][19][20]. In the selection process, besides choosing the best statistical model to predict genetic values, plant breeders usually handle multiple traits simultaneously [21][22][23].…”

“…The viability of seed of this species decreases below 50% after 97 yr of storage under controlled conditions (−18°C) (Walters et al, 2005). The high RH of the air and water content of seed speeds up the deterioration of seed quality (Kapoor et al, 2010; Balešević‐Tubić et al, 2011).…”

“…2a and 2b). Changes in the activity of these enzymes can be used as a useful indicator of seed vigor (Balešević‐Tubić et al, 2011). Studies conducted by Wu et al (2011) confirmed that antioxidative enzymes, such as glyoxalase I and SOD, play an important role in maintaining a high level of maize seed viability.…”

“…Korelacioni odnos proteina i ulja takođe zavisi od genotipa ali i od uslova spoljašnje sredine (Miladinović et al 2006, Balešević-Tubić et al 2011. Korišćenjem modela procenjene prerađivačke vrednosti (estimated processed value), može se proceniti da li sirovina, odnosno određeni odnos sadržaja ulja i proteina u zrnu, može dati…”
